Gun control leaves us as defenseless sheep!! (Updated)

Passing laws and quarantining certain areas as “Gun Free” zones sounds good on the surface. However, when you get past the rhetoric, you soon realize just labeling something doesn’t restrict it from happening. Don’t forget that schools and Navy Yards are gun-free  zones, and it did nothing to prohibit mass shootings. Protective measures such as lock downs, codes, designated protective areas, etc., are all good and needed, but that is not the end it all answer. The people who are law-abiding citizens in these areas are the ones without guns and the means to protect themselves. They become defenseless and helpless sheep for the slaughter. Some will say, “it’s barbaric and wild west if people start getting into shootouts with criminals – we are more civilized now.” Really, what is more barbaric? Disarming the masses and permitting thugs and criminals to shoot them at will, or allow the masses to arm themselves and protect their lives? I don’t think we need more gun control laws, but I believe America needs another dose of good common sense and a return of intestinal fortitude!

I think I know now what the agenda of some in politics is. Rendering people defenseless of means to protect themselves is no different of the unborn child being defenseless against a murderous doctor. Some in government evidently want total control over lives and micromanage every decision we make. I still can't help but think that term limits would at least be a help in curbing some of this madness. Slightly different wording, but in the words of Moses "let the people go!"

Are Babies People Too?

The same people who exclaim with a supposed fervor that guns need to be controlled (implying they are the culprit not the person) are the same people who scream that abortion is a woman’s right. Progressives are compassionate and zealous of protecting human life so much so they are willing to give up their constitutional right to bear arms but will go to great lengths to ensure you can kill an unwanted child. Why does this not make sense to me? So, it is not the right of a person to own a gun, but it is the right of a mother to kill her child? In other words, I have the right to take away the rights of a child in order to exterminate it, but I don’t have the right to defend myself? Why is it that folks will feel uncomfortable if I have a concealed weapon in a supermarket, and yet feel nothing about a baby having its skull caved in to convenience a parent’s irresponsibility? What happened to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness? Doesn’t that apply to the babies too? They are people right?

Political Correctness is Silencing the Voice of Conviction

Another soon to be released Editorial below.

Political correctness is silencing the voice of conviction. If I am afraid of voicing my personal convictions, then I allow someone else to program my speech whether I believe it or not. Look at our politicians, for example; when asked questions it often appears they can’t answer out of their own convictions, but it is like someone presses a button for a prerecorded message. I just wish they would say what they mean and mean what they say! I have more respect for someone who speaks what they really believe than someone who speaks what they think I want to hear.  I am convinced that political correctness is a form of dictatorship. If we are afraid of offending people, we become nothing more than government-controlled robots. We will be instructed what to say and when to speak. Political correctness becomes more of a mind control and the muting of voices of opposition. This is a subtle way of silencing free speech. The mainstream media is constantly bombarding us with subliminal messages about what we should believe and what “appropriate speech” we should be using. Many unknowingly just fall in line with this unwritten speech code while the country is being hijacked and reshaped before their very eyes. People also need to toughen up. We are becoming a wimpy society that wears their feelings on their sleeves. As soon as somebody says something offensive our world almost crumbles, and we whine like small children needing to be burped. In the words of my mother when I was growing up, “grow up and get over it!”

Indecision is costing us.

Getting ready to publish this in the local newspapers.

Decisiveness is the number one quality of a leader. A decisive person is one who does not fill their sails with the wind of popular opinion, but rather are driven by personal conviction and resolve. When a leader is clear about their values and goals; it will be much easier for them to make decisions firmly. The indecision by our president concerning Syria leads me to believe that there is a lack of personal conviction and a not so clear goal in mind. Indecision by our leadership will reduce credibility and influence on the world stage. I am increasingly alarmed that the political members of our government are nothing more than empty suits. When people aspire for a title and live on people’s attention to satisfy them; when leadership goes home at night satisfied because of hearing applause; who become intoxicated with who they are. Then we will no longer hear our politicians making decisions out of resolve, conviction, values, and honoring the constitution, but they will become nothing more than actors on a stage. In other words, Washington D.C. will eventually have to be renamed Hollywood!
