"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any
length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose
morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal
happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security
for the duration of free governments."

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the
government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to
restrain the government -- lest it come to dominate our lives and
interests."

"If ever time should come, when vain and
aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will
stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."

"Now more than ever before, the people are
responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant,
reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness
and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people
demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature....
If the next centennial does not find us a great nation ... it will be because
those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation
do not aid in controlling the political forces."

I am wondering where these great statesmen in
character today in our present government are? The statesmen of old were not
political activists cloned as politicians who serve their bellies instead of
the interests of the American people. When men fall into
the trap of being intoxicated with power and living off of the populace in
opinion and money then democracy is headed for a disaster of epic proportions.
Closing down parks not because of a government shutdown but rather fueled by
political gaming and ambitious party supremacy instead of serving the American
people is disgraceful and an embarrassment to the world. We were to be a beacon
of hope and freedom to the huddled masses of the world who were subjected to tyranny
and deplorable economic conditions. However, our politicians who are driven by
their personal ambitions are driving this nation to a deprivation of the oxygen
of freedom that keeps the fire of hope alive! The Christians and moralists must
rise up and infiltrate every part of our society. We must launch ourselves into
the government and every place that has a platform of influence. Let us not
complain, but activate ourselves to the battle. In the words of Isaiah 58:1 “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy
voice like a trumpet…” And, in the words of Abraham Lincoln “To
sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.”
