Stop Wondering and Start Believing

How many times have I stood beside God's big ocean and wondered if he could fill my glass? How many times have I stood beside God's Word and wondered if he could heal me?
How many times have I stood beside The Creator and wondered if he could meet my needs?
How many times have I stood beside His consuming love and wondered if he cared enough to deliver me?
Unfortunately we seem to operate with a certain type of reasoning in the natural realm but do not apply the same logic in the spiritual realm. For example, we come up with excuses like "I don't believe we need to read the bible every day." Why don't we apply the same logical application to the natural world and not eat food every day?

Others may say "I don't believe we need to pray every day." Let's apply it in the natural and not speak to our spouses every day. That may cause a problem in our relationship due to a lack of communication.

One more would be "I don't believe you have to go to church to be a Christian." In the natural, try to eat a meal without using the kitchen, or encourage your family members without them being in the same room or within earshot of you.

Matthew 16:6-12
6  Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7  And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8  Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9  Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10  Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11  How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12  Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Jesus was obviously talking about the false doctrine of the Pharisees but the disciples thought he was talking about lunch. The word “reasoned” means to speculate or imagine. They were filtering the spiritual language through the natural unregenerate lens of perception. If correction wouldn’t have happened, they would have continued on eventually stumbling headlong into the snare of false doctrine, thus paying a heavy price. Sometimes like the disciples, we become so absorbed in the natural world we fail to recognize the higher spiritual meaning and magnanimous power of God’s Word.

Another point needs made when looking at this teachable passage. Jesus reminds them of the times past he performed miracles and questions their basis of reasoning. In other words, if he did before why couldn’t he do it now? We tend to be forgetful of God’s performance in our past. Do you remember when you had a financial crisis and you were nervous and wondering what was going to happen and all of a sudden it was provided for? What’s interesting is the next time it happened we were probably as nervous and full of wonderment as we were the first time. In all fairness to the disciples we are hardly any better than them in our remembrance.

We simply need to be convinced of God’s nature. He never changes! What he did for you yesterday, he will do for you today, AND he will do it again tomorrow.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
