John 8:32
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
To the degree I understand a pertinent truth, and
to the degree I implement its corresponding action, is the level of freedom I
will experience. Many people can quote this verse but live without the freedom
it promises. The mere acquiescing of knowledge is not what produces freedom in
this verse. It’s the experiencing of the truth or the implementation of what is
known. The Complete Biblical Library Commentary (CBL) says, “The word "know" means "come to
know" and connotes a knowledge that is learned through experience.”
3 John 1:2
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
It
is interesting that John hinges prosperity and health on the condition of the
soul in the latter part of the verse. As the soul prospers or increases so does
my health, and outward prosperity becomes evident. The soul here is referring
to the entirety of the inward man which includes his knowledge of truth. As his
understanding increases; freedom from sickness and the curses are experienced, and
the person lives in this world but is not of this world.
Knowing
the truth will produce a saturation of freedom in every area of life allowing
the glory of God to flow uninhibited through you.
Understanding
the truth + doing the truth = FREEDOM
